After a scenic drive from Queenstown, we arrive in Wanaka, greeted by snow-capped peaks and the stunning Lake Wanaka. The town exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with cozy cafes, boutique shops, and a vibrant après-ski scene. We settle into our accommodation, eagerly anticipating the adventures that lie ahead.
Our ski journey begins at the family-friendly Cardrona Alpine Resort, just a short drive from Wanaka. This world-class ski field offers a variety of terrain suitable for all skill levels. Cardrona has something for everyone, from gentle slopes for beginners to thrilling black diamond runs for the more experienced. The resort's state-of-the-art facilities and friendly instructors ensure an enjoyable experience on the mountain.
Without a doubt, my preferred ski destination is Treble Cone Ski Area. It is well-known for its vast terrain and breathtaking views. As we make our way up the mountain, we are awed by the panoramic scenery of Lake Wanaka and the adjacent peaks. Treble Cone is a paradise for experienced skiers and snowboarders who crave a rush of adrenaline, thanks to its challenging slopes and off-piste opportunities. We carve our way down the slopes, feeling a sense of freedom and excitement.
Snow Farm NZ For a unique skiing experience, we venture to Snow Farm NZ, a cross-country skiing paradise. Located high in the Pisa Range, this winter wonderland offers over 50 kilometres of groomed trails weaving through pristine snow-covered valleys. We strap on our cross-country skis and glide through the peaceful alpine scenery, feeling at one with nature. Snow Farm also provides lessons and equipment rental for beginners eager to try this alternative form of skiing.
As we near the end of our ski adventure, we make our way to Coronet Peak Ski Area near Queenstown. This popular ski resort offers a wide range of terrain for all abilities. From perfectly groomed runs to thrilling off-piste areas, Coronet Peak ensures an exciting and memorable day on the slopes. The vibrant atmosphere and stunning views make it a must-visit destination for any ski enthusiast.
