The ideal time to visit Australia depends on the region you wish to explore. The country experiences opposite seasons compared to the Northern Hemisphere. For the iconic cities of Sydney and Melbourne, September to November and March to May offer pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds. If you plan to explore the Great Barrier Reef, the dry season from June to October is ideal for snorkelling and diving (and this is also when there are fewer stingers in the water). For those venturing into the Outback, the cooler months from April to September are recommended to avoid extreme heat.
