As I set foot in Pompeii, the grandeur of the ruins immediately struck me. The ancient city was buried under volcanic ash and preserved by the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Walking along the worn-out paths, I couldn't help but marvel at the intricate mosaic floors, frescoed walls, and remnants of the buildings that once stood tall.

Reflections 

Visiting Pompeii is an incredible experience that takes you back in time. The ruins of this ancient city are incredibly well-preserved, providing valuable insights into the lives of the people who lived there during the Roman Empire. Walking through the streets and ruins of Pompeii allowed me to imagine what life was like for the Romans at the height of their power. Unfortunately, the sudden eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 brought an abrupt end to this city, leaving a lasting impact on my emotions.

It also made me wonder how preparedness and resilience can influence the outcome of a disaster.
